A mental disorder, also called a mental illness or psychiatric disorder, is a behavioral or mental pattern that causes significant distress or impairment of personal functioning. Such features may be persistent, relapsing and remitting, or occur as a single episode. Many disorders have been described, with signs and symptoms that vary widely between specific disorders. Such disorders may be diagnosed by a mental health professional.
The causes of mental disorders are often unclear. Theories may incorporate findings from a range of fields. Mental disorders are usually defined by a combination of how a person behaves, feels, perceives, or thinks. This may be associated with particular regions or functions of the brain, often in a social context. A mental disorder is one aspect of mental health. today we will talk about one of a Disorder
Recently, I've come across this term which is very horrifying. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder were people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensations , and behaviors that drive them to do something over and over .
People are unable to control either the thoughts or the activities for more than a short period of time. Common activities include hand washing, counting of things, and checking to see if a door is locked. Some may have difficulty throwing things out. These activities occur to such a degree that the person's daily life is negatively affected. This often takes up more than an hour a day. Most adults realize that the behaviors do not make sense. The condition is associated with tics, anxiety disorder, and an increased risk of suicide. heres a real story to tell you something
Mental disorders are so dangerous that sometimes they lead to mental trauma or panic attacks or in some cases death, too. A few months ago I met a girl with a very different attitude towards everything she did. At that time I had no idea that she was suffering from this disease. I used to visit her everyday at her home and I'll be honest I always wondered why she would keep things in a certain way. One day I finally had the courage to ask her this and she looked confused for a bit and then she replied, "I want them to look that way." For some reason she didn't ask why I wanted to know. A few weeks went by and I noticed that she'd do things in a certain way like locking the door thrice or turning the lights on and off repeatedly and even screaming at people when they touched or moved her things. Whenever I invited her to my house, she'd always ask me if she can clean my room because it looked too messy. I thought she was just joking but little did I know that she couldn't look at it. As my exams were beginning; I completely stopped talking to her, ignored her texts and after a few days she stopped trying because I never received another message from her. After my exams were over I decided to give her a visit and as soon as I reached at her house - I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The girl I had been ignoring for weeks had passed away- I was shocked, I even cried. I asked her parents how did that happen and the only response I got from them was, "she was hospitalised. She had 3 panic attacks over a month and after that she took some pills which didn't help her at all." After all this time, these words still haunt me and I can't help but blame myself for her death. If only I'd been there for her and support her then maybe things would've been different. All I have to say to right now is that if you've met someone with these symptoms, please take some time out of your life to help them and support them through their hard times.
